The Hunting

Braque Français - Tartine du Relais Perrine Braque Français

All dogs of Relais Perrine go to hunt in order to keep shape and to satisfy its “instinct”. Generally I hunt with two dogs confirmed in the same time, the younger dogs hunt alone. The young dog must learn to hunt alone, we must try to put the dog with the game the most often, so that it blossoms its instinct of hunting and understand that I want from it.

The Breeding

Jeune chiots braque français Jeune chiots braque français

With the Perrine Relay, the females in gestation live in the house. It is necessary to be attentive so that they are nourished sufficiently for the good growth of the foetus, and it is necessary to get a maximum of caresses to them in order to prepare them with the birth. The birth is also carried out inside the house because I am persuaded that the pups which feel a permanent presence (speech, radio, television and other noises) in the first days and the first months of their existence will be balanced perfectly.

Spinone

SpinoneHistoric

We find in the bibliography some descriptions which evoke a dog with hard hairs of Italian origin which passes to be the ancestor of current Spinone. Thus this breed would be strictly of Italian origin. In its book “the perfect hunter” Sélincourt, in 1983, speaks about a “griffon” coming from Italy and Piedmont. In the Middle Ages and the XV century, this dog was often represented by famous painters; the most known painting is a fresco of Andrea Mantegna to the ducal Palate of Mantoue.

General aspect

Dog of robust, rustic and vigorous construction; powerful skeleton; well developed muscle. Free step, at hunting, trot elongate and rapid, interspersed by times of gallop. Its skin is well applied to the body. Spinone It must be thick and dry… Its hairs of length from 4 to 6 cm are stiff, hard, clenched, and rather down.

Behavior and character

Of a sociable naturel, flexible and patient, the spinone is suited to hunting in all the grounds; very resistant at tiredness, it engages easily in brambles or pounces on cold water. It has remarkable gifts for a trot elongate and rapid ; by nature, he brings back very well.

Braque Français

Historic outline

The Braque Français is the ancestor of all pointers with short hair. During the XVIIème century, PHOBUS OF FOIX used it and an old author, ESPINAR, said they seemed to fly above the ground to search the prey. This excellent pointer managed to preserve its rusticity. Moreover, it preserved the effectiveness of the time when the dogs were grown only for the services which they returned.

General characteristics

Braque Français

The Braque Français is a dog at the same time powerful and elegant, active and obedient, alive and soft; a wonder of balance to education so easy that its followers say that it is born “raise”. This pointer, as at ease with wood as in plain, could also be a quiet pet and very faithful. Its coat with short hair is mottled or spotted of brown and white. Its gilded look is intelligent and with a great softness. Its size varies between 47 to 58 cm, for the Pyrénées type (small size) and from 59 to 67 cm for the type Gascogne (great size). The Braque Français Pyrénées type with the general aspect of a dog rustic, without heaviness, but sufficiently muscular.
